REKANA (/ˈrɛkana/) is a sustainable fashion brand exploring afro-modernism, culture, and individuality. We focus on making casual clothing and accessories for the bold and free spirits, using low-impact natural materials to hand-dye and hand-weave fabrics that are eco-friendly, versatile and handmade by artisans and seamstresses in Nigeria, West Africa. An age old craftmanship. 

Our designs are rooted in the rich tapestry of our Nigerian culture, drawing inspiration from traditional elements, communal narratives, and a contemporary interpretation of modern African fashion. Our goal is to empower our friends to live authentically, without limitations—a true expression of Afro-modernism aiming to embody sustainability and individuality.

OUR JOURNEY SO FAR
Since our launch in 2018, we have worked with fabric makers and local artisans to use remnant fabrics from their production that would otherwise end up as landfill, for our collections and bi-annual drops.

In 2021 we took a significant step towards a more sustainable and eco-conscious approach to fashion, incorporating eco-friendly hand-dyed fabrics for our Rainy Resort 2022 collection, launching it with the release of a short film “Children of God”.

This milestone and its accompanying success reinforce our commitment to using art as a medium to addressing our 3 Rs - reduce, restyle, and rekanate. Our mission is to feed the future by reducing waste, utilizing more sustainable raw materials, supporting our makers and building a community of indigenous artists whilst considering our environment and preserving our culture.  

We do not like waste does not mean we would reduce our quality standards. Each Rekana piece is crafted to suit your wardrobe needs timelessly.
